The success of Emerging Scholars is remarkable. Approx. 75% of the students who enter the program continue all three years and graduate from the program. Over 90% of these students apply and attend college their first year out of high school. In the program’s first five years, only three students have dropped out of high school. Considering that all of the participating schools have a high school graduation rate of 55% or less (Johns Hopkins), this is a huge success. The estimated cost per student is $7,500 for all three years. However, this cost does not include the salary of all participating Clemson faculty. Currently, most of them volunteer their time and resources over the summer months.
